Designer Spotlight: Peacock Alley has passionate following

Dallas-based Peacock Alley was founded in 1973 by Mary Ella Gabler, who is credited with establishing the luxury linen market in the United States. The company is named for the restaurant inside the Waldorf Astoria New York, where Gabler had lunch when she lived in New York and worked as a stockbroker.

Gabler correctly predicted that the bedroom would evolve from a place to lay your head at night to a multipurpose space that functions more like a living room. She saw a void in the market and developed a line of fashionable bedding that would appeal to stylish consumers looking to dress their bedroom the same way they dressed themselves: in natural fibers, classic silhouettes, and pleasing colors.

Today, Peacock Alley has a passionate following and is a favorite among magazine editors and set decorators. You'll notice Peacock Alley sheets and towels on the pages of Good Housekeeping and other magazines, or in the backgrounds of movies such as "The Hangover."

Whether you turn to Peacock Alley for its incredible quality sheet sets, sumptuous towels or stylish and warm blankets and throws, you will surely be thrilled with the sense of indulgence, comfort and chic style of your linens. Peacock Alley is renowned for it's stylish matelasse coverlets and the glorious textures it uses in both bedding and bath towels.

Peacock Alley strives to produce new pieces each season that compliment older collections, allowing customers to build on purchases made years and even decades ago. Many of Peacock Alley’s designs transcend time and trend, and patterns like Vienna and Duet are over a quarter-century old.

Here are some of our favorite items from Peacock Alley that are on sale during Pioneer Linens' August White Sale:

Peacock Alley's signature matelasse for over 30 years, Vienna is classic, understated and elegant. It's fashioned after an 18th Century French button found in France by Peacock Alley's founder. The Vienna Tailored Shower Curtain features the same beautiful design.
